Serenity Giveaway

Since finding serenity is so dear to my heart, I thought I would have a little serenity giveaway to all you lovely people who come and visit my blog. I have knitted an overabundance of dishcloths, so I thought I could show my appreciation to all of you by giving a pretty pink set away, along with a bar of my homemade Lavender Mint soap. If you will just leave me a comment, and tell me how you try to find serenity in your life, I will add you to my little giveaway. Next Thursday morning, November 13, I will announce the winner. I am really looking forward to reading your serenity comments.

Also, I would like to mention, Jodi, from Simply This That and the Other, is very kindly featuring me today on her blog.....it's her new weekly feature about other quilters and sewers. Thanks, Jodi!

Serenity...for me is taking the dogs for a long walk in the woods, especially in the winter when the snow has fallen and it's all so quiet and peaceful. However, I can also find serenity by turning off the electronics and spending time journaling or soaking in the tub or going for a long run. I do some of my best thinking when running.

Thanks so much for the giveaway- I found you on this that and the other, and I've added you to my google reader- your blog is just lovely! I am a single mom of 3 crazy wonderful kids, and I would have to say that serenity is not something that I find easily. Sometimes it's the quiet cup of coffee at 5:00 am on a Saturday, when I walk room to room to watch them sleep, sometimes it's when we are all hugging and playing together and laughing. Some days serenity doesn't happen... but most days I find it. Sorry for the ridiculously long comment, but you did ask! :)

What a beautiful giveaway...the dish cloths are so lovely. And your blog is lovely...I just came over from This That and the Other. Serenity for me is what quilting and stitching and creating are all about. I truly do feel peace and joy when I am making things. It's also so fun to look at what others have done!

I find serenity every morning with my 2-year-old daughter when we do our quiet time. We read our Bibles together and pray. It is a very special time of the day for us!

Being at the seashore and listening to the waves. I could do this all day every day. If only I didn't live in a landlocked state. :( So I listen to music to get me through until I'm at the beach again. What beautiful dishcloths. I love your pattern!! These are so pretty. Cotton dishcloths are a favorite of mine. Thanks so much!

I find my serenity in different ways every day so mostly I listen to my heart and go with it. It is either sewing, gardening, baking and sometimes even fishing. Just doing the things I love and letting myself get totally immersed in the experience feels good to me.

Sharla said...

This picture alone relaxes me. I try to find serenity by working on creating something every day (sewing, scrapbooking, cooking) - with two little ones, it doesn't seem like much gets done, but I'm always "working" on something and it's a nice way to relax after everyone's asleep.

elliebelle said...

Cute washcloths! My serenity is mindlessly reading blogs! haha...but also knitting in the evenings or staring at my beautiful fabrics wondering what to make! :)

I am a stay at home mamma....my "therapy" my husband calls it is sewing/scrapbooking/crafting...thatis my serenity!

Oh how pretty. I've never seen dishcloths like that and the soap is a dream. Please throw me into the sink of wanna-be's.

I'm adding you to my google.com/reader selections.

My quiet retreating is meeting with my stitching friends on Wed.

What a lovely giveaway Cathleen! I am increasingly finding that I like spending time at home in silence - no tv, no radio, no kids - just sitting quietly and sewing or knitting - and that's my serenity.

I find serenity in quiet times in my sewing room, just sorting out my thoughts while I create something. It's good for the soul.

Doris said...

Quiet time, by myself, at my home, curled up in a chair with some hand-sewing, embroidery, or a good book. Add a cup of tea on the said table and you have...serenity.

Lovely giveaway. I use clothes my mom knits--LOVE 'EM!

alanajo said...

As a SAHM I find my serenity on the treadmill or behind the sewing machine, sometimes even folding clothes. Anywhere that I can have 2 minutes of peace and quiet away from it all.

Thanks for this. Id love those.

I find serenity in my painting room on a lazy Saturday. When I'm painting, there's no sadness, hurt, boredom, worry.... it's just my time to be creative and selfish!! Great giveaway, Cathleen! I've been lucky enough to try out both your dishcloths and your soap and it's all WONDERFUL!!

Attic24 said...

Hi Cathleen
The soap and dishcloth package looks soooo pretty, I love it.
I stopped by earlier but couldn't quite think how to comment then, I've been pondering your question about Serenity all day.

I can honestly say that I find serenity each and every day, many times a day when I go about my everyday life, by being aware of the very preciousness of the moment we are in and knowing I am happy being ME, right now, right here.
Whatever I am doing, I do really try and appreciate it for what it is, whether it be chores around the house, walking to school, being creative, or maybe just taking a moment to sit and look at a flower, observe the weather. Appreciating life's little pleasures, being thankful for what I have.

Hope this doesn't come across as too airy-fairy, I hope you know me well enough by now to know what I'm trying to say, and that it is genuine!!!

Love to you Cathleeen

I found your site on "This That and The Other". I love handmade soap! It's all I've been using for quite some time now. The dishcloth's are very pretty. My serenity is usually my afternoon coffee. It's a very simple thing, but I really look forward to just sitting in peace, and enjoying one cup of coffee while doing NOTHING!

Jodi sent me over =] And I am so glad she did! I love your blog. I've struggled with stress for years, and I've just recently picked up sewing, and it really does calm everything down. "Serenity" is such the perfect word for it. I think I might put that up in my sewing room =] My main source of serenity though is through my photography.

Serenity? what is that? Right now serentiy is when my little ones are napping and I am finally sitting down to enjoy my coffee and maybe find a new blog to enjoy! thanks for sharing.

Oddly enough, I find a little serenity on the public bus. On days that I can ride the bus in to work and not drive - gives me an extra hour a day to sit and stare into nothingness or read a good book. It is nice to have that time where I am forced to sit still and just breathe.

Marcee said...

WOW! Your creations are incredible!

Being a H'schooling mom with two young kids-serenity can be a bit of a challege. I've found that listening to beautiful music like Enya or amazing choir music from other countries really helps me to relax and find a sense of peace. At night when the kids are in bed, I may take a long hot bath with a good book and then snuggle into my bed and listen to the wind or rain. I love to sit outside in the fresh Fall air and look at the leaves while my children ride thier bikes. If I wanted to find serenity completely alone, it would be at the mountain cabin, next to the river-Just being.

I find quiet moments and spots. I think everyone needs periods of time in each day of silence, meditation and peace and I try very hard to be able to have those.

I try to create a space in my home where that can happen easily, and that isn't easy because I have small kids running underfoot. But even one clean, simple spot that I can retreat to is helpful.

Tracy said...

So lovely, Cathleen...so generous! Your cloths are beautiful! Do count me in on the fun! Since finding you sweet place here a little while ago, I just love to visit...The quest for serenity is something I too share. Serenity is a state of mind, a state of heart. To find it one must be quiet, silence to the inner silence. From there joy happens easily! :o) Sewing is also a great way to serenity--LOL! Happy weekend, my friend ((HUGS))

Your blog is wonderfully inspiring! Thank you!

I find serenity by sitting beside my beehives and watching the bees coming and going with their supplies of pollen...listening to the gentle hum as they fly by.

Or by sitting on my porch watching the birds at the feeders or the squirrel stealing the fallen seeds.

With 5 children I find stepping out of the house and into nature is my step into serenity!

What a fun give away! I think that is so cool, it never occured to me to knit dishcloths, I'm a terrible knitter... I could really use some pretty pink dishcloths. I try to find serentiy by visiting my grandparents each week, in there home. We sit at the kitchen table, drinka mug og hot camomille tea, and chat about the weather, the roses in the garden, and memories of the past.
Their charming ways make me smile and lift my spirit.
