Mema's Day Off

A whole day to myself! No responsibilities, just plenty of time to indulge myself. So what have I done so far? Visited blogs, drove to Starbucks, had a free (thanks Chad for my Starbucks gift card) vanilla latte and a breakfast sandwich with bacon, Parmesan frittata and Gouda on a fluffy artisan roll (have you tried one of these yet? delicious). Anyway, then to Joann Fabrics for a new pair of sewing scissors (50% off coupon). Then a quick run into Borders for a copy of the British Country Living August issue (they only had June). Quickly scanning the bestseller shelf, I spotted the book 'Julie & Julia'. I am so excited to see this movie in August....Stacey mark your calendar for a date with your Mom. A pretty magazine, a new book, and a vanilla latte on a superbly sunny summer day. I do believe I hear the hammock calling to me. I think a nap is in order too. After all, it's old Mema's day off!

Hi Cathleen! I'm Chiara, an Italian reader; I discovered your blog a few days ago and I love it! I also visited your shop. I have a question for you. You knitted dishcloths; I'm smitten with curiosity. Do you really use them to wash dishes? It's something new for me, as the only use I know for cotton thread is for throws!!! Your dishcloths are just too beautiful to be used!
Have a great all for yourself, enjoy!
Hugs from Chiara

That sounds like a perfect day to me! The thought of having a day like that! You lucky thing.
The bag you crocheted for your daughter-in-law is lovely! I think pink and brown are a great combination, she must be thrilled with it, and so pleased to have such a wonderful mother-in-law.
Love Vanessa xxx (do you mind if i knit)

Chiara...yes, I really do use my dishcloths to wash dishes and also, I made some pink ones especially for when I give my little grandgirlies their baths. They are very soft and it just feels good using homemade ones.

I came here after reading your sweet comment about my mom only to find that you are called "Mema." My mom was Mema to her grandchildren, too! I am so glad you had a wonderful day!
